Gingerbread - Pacific Grove

3 Bedroom Walk To Beach House

Experience the vintage charm of Pacific Grove while enjoying all the comfort and conveniences of the 21st century in this beautiful two-story, Victorian-style home. Relax on the deck off the master bedroom, or outside on one of two front porches: you can spread out in this comfortable home with hardwood floors, a fireplace, and a unique "sun tower" at the top of the stairs. This den/office area, with a wet bar and under-counter refrigerator, is everyone's favorite place to read, chat, or just enjoy the view overlooking this charming neighborhood. Cherry wood cabinets and a lovely tin ceiling add warmth and charm to the well-equipped kitchen, and the open floor plan can be "zoned" by doors separating the kitchen from the dining area and the living room from the entry way. An instant gas log fireplace in the living room adds ambiance while you enjoy a good book or a movie on cable TV/DVD (available in both the downstairs living room and the upstairs bedrooms). All three bedrooms are carpeted and located on the second floor. The master bedroom, decorated in soft tones of rose and green, has a queen-size bed and a private bath with a stall shower. A second guestroom has a queen-size bed; the third has two twins. The guest bath features a tub/shower, and there's another half bath downstairs. The location makes this Victorian-style home one of our most popular accommodations in Pacific Grove. Upon arrival, you may want to park your car in the spacious two-car garage and forget about it! Just a block from downtown, you are within easy walking distance of Pacific Grove’s quaint shops, restaurants, the Farmer's Market, and the scenic coastline recreation trail. If you feel energetic, walk along the coastal trail to the world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium, exactly one mile from the front door. Along the way, observe marine life - sea lions, seals, otters, and shorebirds. Also within easy walking distance: a grocery store, bakeries, library, post office, ice cream parlor, coffee shops, visitor's center, museum, movie theater, bookstore, parks, playground, and boutiques. (If you prefer, there is bus service just a block away that will take you to the Aquarium and Cannery Row, downtown Monterey and Asilomar Beach.) If you are a golf enthusiast, bring your clubs! The Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course is just a half mile away, and a short drive will take you to the world-famous links at Pebble Beach. Don’t miss the boutiques and galleries of Carmel, and on a sunny day, take Highway 1 down the coast to Big Sur. (Mmmm, lunch at Nepenthe... an Ambrosia Burger and a basket of their famous fries!) Perfect!

My family recently spent four nights in the Gingerbread House and absolutely loved it! The house has tons of character and is perfectly located. You can walk along the beautiful, scenic coast in one direction, or up to the cute shops and restaurants in the other. Plus, the park a block away with a basketball court was a bonus for my teenage boys. In the past, we have stayed in Monterey and Carmel, but this was our first time staying in Pacific Grove. We really liked the down-to-earth feel of the area, and the proximity to the neighboring towns. We highly recommend the Gingerbread house to any family looking for a nice family vacation. less

Great house! Great location!

This was our second time renting the Gingerbread house. We had a great 2 weeks with kids and grandkids joining us for a few days. The Monterey Bay Aquarium was a big draw as well and beach walks, butterfly viewing, golfing, going to the park and walking to movies and restaurants. The kitchen was well equipped and the rooms were large and comfortable. We loved everything! less

Perfect!

Perfect location. Easy walk to restaurants, Lovers Point, the Aquarium, and great birding sites. Comfy beds, off-street parking (a huge plus!), and large kitchen make this a perfect house for families.

Pacific Grove perfection

We rented the Gingerbread house for my sister-in-law's 60th birthday. Family came in from NY and Colorado. We wanted to show them our favorite town. The home is the perfect PG home. Short walk to the most beautiful trails and coastlines as well as to restaurants and shops. They all left agreeing PG is magical and the house was a gem. The home was perfect for our small family celebration. The kitchen is very well equipped and the whole home spacious, charming and comfortable. We will be back! less

Excellent Location!

We recently stayed there for a vacation and a small family reunion. The best part was its location. It’s walking distance to a coffee shop, restaurants/bakeries, liquor store, and lovers point (the beach). The house is a good size. We thought we would spend a lot of time in the upstairs balcony/window room but it was too hot and the house doesn’t have AC. It was unusually warm when we visited. It’s an older home but in good condition. The living room is where we’re congregated the most and had about 10 people in there catching up on old times. Too bad it didn’t have more comfortable chairs but it was still big enough to accommodate all of us. The TVs are very small and be careful of the master suite bed. When you walk to the bathroom it looks like it’s just the quilt but you’ll hit your knee on the bed. Several of us did this when looking at the house the first time. There were small ants in the upstairs bathroom sink. I forgot to tell them about it but I’m sure they will read this review. Location was its biggest asset. No beach view was a bummer but we knew that when we booked it so all-in-all it was an awesome vacation home for four adults (my parents came with us) and our two children (11 & 6) who walked everywhere or got an Uber to the aquarium etc... less

Delightful and Comfortable Home

We booked this lovely home in Pacific Grove for for days. We had 4 adults from FL joining us for a Monterey wedding and small family reunion. What a darling home with every comfort you would want and expect. Perfect location between water and downtown! The living room and kitchen/dining room area were larger than anticipated. Most importantly, it was very clean with all amenities. I would highly recommend this rental and the ease of dealing with the management team was amazing, less

Gingerbread

A long weekend at the Gingerbread house was wonderful for our family. Plenty of room, clean and well furnished. Short walk to the beach and into Pacific Grove meals. We will be back!

Love the Gingerbread House

We recently rented the beautiful Gingerbread House for a 60th Anniversary. It was just lovely and very clean. The table was beautifully set when we arrived. The children's framed artwork on the walls in the twin bedroom was delightful. It's the little touches like these that made this house perfect. A well appointed kitchen met all our cooking needs. If we did want to venture out to eat, there were many restaurants to choose from just two blocks away. We would definitely recommend the Gingerbread House less

Gingerbread House

Gingerbread House is the perfect place to stay to visit Pacific Grove and the Monterey Bay area. The house is located within walking distance of Lover's Point and downtown Pacific Grove. We come to Monterey to visit family. Gingerbread House is ideal for us. We hope this property will continue to be available to rent for our future visits. less

Lovely get-away

Have stayed here twice. Perfect size for our family! Easy walk to some great restaurants - International Cuisine, Red House, Toasties - and to Lover's Point. Off-street parking for two vehicles comes in handy.

Loved, loved, loved the Gingerbread House!

Stayed here for 10 days and loved every minute! Situated just a block from Lighthouse Avenue, the Gingerbread House had the perfect location for us to walk to restaurants, shops and Lovers Point.... and further if so desired. I managed a walk most mornings to Cannery Row along the waterfront or Pinot Point Lighthouse-- each within a mile or mile and a half from the house. Be sure to check out the Pacific Grove Farmers' Market on Mondays-- just a few blocks away on Central Ave. The house is well maintained and had all the amenities one would want for a vacation of this length-- plenty of linens, full kitchen with laundry, fully stocked bathrooms including a downstairs powder room. Add fast internet and cable TV with Netflix-- this was the perfect home away from home. (I would note that I packed a hair dryer since none was listed in the description-- but the Gingerbread House had two--one in each of the upstairs bathrooms.) My ONLY complaint is that at night a lot of light filtered into the master bedroom, which had sliding doors off the porch. There were opaque blinds on the other bedrooms that I wish were on the master bedroom too. It was so enjoyable to sit on any of the 3 porches and people watch. We could see the Red House Grill from the house-- you'll want to have breakfast, lunch or weekend brunch there. Yum! The Gingerbread House made a wonderful visit perfect. I'd highly recommend and look forward to our return visit. less

Relaxing Stay

We had a wonderful stay in Pacific Grove, during the month of July, 2018. The house is beautiful and was supplied with everything we needed for a week’s stay, The proximity to both the beach and town was perfect. We enjoyed coffee every day from Crema and/or the bookstore. We had take-out several times from Red House Cafe and shopped at the garden shop below. We visited the pets at the animal shelter nearly every day and shopped at Monnarch Knitting, also. The people of Pacific Grove are super friendly and our stay was extremely relaxing. less

Great house, great location

We had a wonderful 10 days at the Gingerbread house with kids and grandkids. Lots of rooms for sleeping and playing. Having 3 bathrooms was great, as was the spacious, well equipped kitchen. We spent part of each day at the close by park as well as daily walks along the beach. We liked being close to restaurants and the movie theatre. We all enjoyed multiple trips to the aquarium. We loved everything! less

Gingerbread House

Our family of four adults and three teens spent four nights at the Gingerbread house. The place was fabulous! The location was perfect for traveling south to Carmel, Monterey county wineries and points south of San Francisco. Everything about the house was exactly as advertised on Homeaway. Would definitely recommend this place with 5 stars! less

Gingerbread House

We stayed in this house for three days last week and it was really nice. The location was excellent, walking distance to downtown Pacific Grove, stores etc. It was nice having so much space and the price was reasonable for the size house. It was my first VRBO experience and I was a little surprised by the hidden costs and the deposit that I didn't pay attention to when we booked the house but overall it all worked out. I would definitely stay there again. The management company was great too. We love Pacific Grove. less

Gingerbread House

We were very pleased with this property. It was clean and beautifully decorated. The location was perfect! So close to downtown Pacific Grove and a very short walk down to Lover's Point. The house was equipped with anything you would need. I will definitely keep the Gingerbread house in mind for my next visit to Pacific Grove! less

Girls weekend

Great house, felt very comfortable. Loved the location, nice quiet neighborhood. Garage was a plus especially with a baby. Very well maintained, we will be back next year. Slept like a baby, great bed.

Gingerbread House

We rented the Gingerbread House so that we may be in Monterey to participate in the Big Sur Marathon. The accommodations were exceptional. The house was clean, modern and close to the beach. My grandchildren want to come back next year and so do we. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. less

Beautiful Home

We loved the Gingerbread House! It is a beautiful home. The location is perfect. The neighborhood is lovely. And it is a short walk to the ocean. Everything we needed was provided. The kitchen was well-stocked with all we needed for cooking meals. We were impressed with the quality of the linens and towels. The furniture and the accents were pretty, warm and inviting. We loved our first visit to Monterey and hope to come back again. Thank you for offering up this fantastic home. (One tip: Check the local calendar when booking your stay in Monterey. There was a marathon scheduled on the day we departed and we had to leave the property very early in the morning due to road closures.) less

Great House!

Thank you for an amazing stay at Gingerbread house. It was our first visit to America, and after a hectic time visiting Las Vegas and Los Angeles, a week relaxing in Pacific Grove was wonderful. The Aquarium was a highlight and we managed a day trip to San Francisco and Alcatraz. Swimming and renting kayaks at Lover's Point beach was great because we saw an otter and seal. We went whale watching from Monterey wharf. Our favourite place to eat was the beachhouse at Lover's point. The nearby playground was handy for our little one. It is so easy to walk to all the local neighbourhood facilities including a 3 screen cinema! We traveled to Santa Cruz boardwalk for an evening which was easy and fun. The house was lovely but it took us a while to work the washing machine as we did not have instructions. The garage was really good for the car and meant we could leave any sandy shoes in there. We played chess and checkers in the lounge and we loved the sun tower for morning coffee and reading. The kids liked the cupboard under the suntower. Booking, key pickup and payment online went smoothly thanks to Monterey Property Rentals. A very efficient service. less

Gingerbread house

We rented the house for my family coming from Spain for five days. When picking up the keys from the main office, it was easy since they left them in an envelope with information about both the house and outdoor activities in Monterey. The house had everything needed and there was enough space for the five of them (there is even a sofa bed ) Two of the bathrooms clogged the first day, we called and In less than a couple of hours they fixed them. The house is located in a nice neighborhood and it only takes a couple of minutes to get to the rec trail. Also, pacific grove has plenty of cute stores and cafes where you can roam around. Regarding the deposit, it is insignificant compared with other places we looked into. The only inconvenient that we saw was that the office closes by four and during the weekend it is also closed. Having said that, we wouldn't be able to have a look at the house until we checked in. However, the pictures posted in the website are the ones you find whe you get there and I have to say that they are amazing. One of the bedrooms gets really hot because it has three windows and since the early morning the sun is already hitting. I fully recommend the place to anyone who is looking for a quite place and liked small charming cities less

Excellent property in the Monterey area

Open and airy house in easy walking distance to the restaurants and shops of Pacific Grove. Large rooms, big windows, three bedrooms and large, well-equipped kitchen/dining area. We all much enjoyed staying here and heartily recommend the property.

Very comfortable and great walking close by

Clean and roomy for 6 of us. Close to beaches, shopping and attractions. Quiet neighborhood. No issues

Couldn't have been better!

My husband and I, along with 2 other couples, stayed at Gingerbread for 3 nights. The house is spacious, clean and attractive inside and out. The kitchen is really beautiful! The beds were very comfortable. (We pushed the twin beds together for one couple and it worked out great). The location can't be beat,.. just 2 blocks from Lover's Point and just 1 block from 2 of the best restaurants in the area. We really couldn't have asked for better accommodations. We would LOVE to come back! less

Mostly Fabulous

My sisters and I had a wonderful visit. The house was well-stocked, the rooms attractive and comfortable. We were even able to host our family for Christmas Eve. The location is fantastic, a block from Lovers' Point and a block from Lighthouse avenue in PG. The only negative was that third bedroom had only children's beds, not even full-sized twin beds. No adult (and we were all adults) would be comfortable sleeping in them. less

Owner/Manager Response

We're happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed the holidays at Gingerbread. We've checked and confirmed that the beds are standard size twins - we're very sorry you found them inadequate for your group.

Memorial Day Weekend in Pacific Grove!

My friends and I enjoyed a great weekend at the Gingerbread house in Pacific Grove. The home is very cozy and easily accomodates 6 people comfortably. I really enjoyed our stay and the location was great. It was only about 2 blocks from Lover's Point. We were also able to get up early and jog to the Monterey aquarium, which was a little more than a mile away. I would definitely recommend this home. The staff were quick to answer any questions we had, I would book with them again. less

Lovely stay

The home was beautiful and comfortable for our family. Location was nice, just a couple block walk to the beach, and even a reasonable 1mi walk to the aquarium. We would rent it again.
