Gingerbread - Pacific Grove

3 Bedroom Walk To Beach House

Experience the vintage charm of Pacific Grove while enjoying all the comfort and conveniences of the 21st century in this beautiful two-story, Victorian-style home. Relax on the deck off the master bedroom, or outside on one of two front porches: you can spread out in this comfortable home with hardwood floors, a fireplace, and a unique "sun tower" at the top of the stairs. This den/office area, with a wet bar and under-counter refrigerator, is everyone's favorite place to read, chat, or just enjoy the view overlooking this charming neighborhood. Cherry wood cabinets and a lovely tin ceiling add warmth and charm to the well-equipped kitchen, and the open floor plan can be "zoned" by doors separating the kitchen from the dining area and the living room from the entry way. An instant gas log fireplace in the living room adds ambiance while you enjoy a good book or a movie on cable TV/DVD (available in both the downstairs living room and the upstairs bedrooms). All three bedrooms are carpeted and located on the second floor. The master bedroom, decorated in soft tones of rose and green, has a queen-size bed and a private bath with a stall shower. A second guestroom has a queen-size bed; the third has two twins. The guest bath features a tub/shower, and there's another half bath downstairs. The location makes this Victorian-style home one of our most popular accommodations in Pacific Grove. Upon arrival, you may want to park your car in the spacious two-car garage and forget about it! Just a block from downtown, you are within easy walking distance of Pacific Grove’s quaint shops, restaurants, the Farmer's Market, and the scenic coastline recreation trail. If you feel energetic, walk along the coastal trail to the world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium, exactly one mile from the front door. Along the way, observe marine life - sea lions, seals, otters, and shorebirds. Also within easy walking distance: a grocery store, bakeries, library, post office, ice cream parlor, coffee shops, visitor's center, museum, movie theater, bookstore, parks, playground, and boutiques. (If you prefer, there is bus service just a block away that will take you to the Aquarium and Cannery Row, downtown Monterey and Asilomar Beach.) If you are a golf enthusiast, bring your clubs! The Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course is just a half mile away, and a short drive will take you to the world-famous links at Pebble Beach. Don’t miss the boutiques and galleries of Carmel, and on a sunny day, take Highway 1 down the coast to Big Sur. (Mmmm, lunch at Nepenthe... an Ambrosia Burger and a basket of their famous fries!). The Ginerbread House was perfect for adults and children. The kids loved the 'secret' cubby hole. The walk to the beach was easy and only a few blocks away. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking and eating items. Overall the house was comfortably furnished and we felt welcome there. less

Rented home for my daughter, her husband and myself. The home is lovely and close to restaurants, walking trails, lover's point. Would hope to rent again next year.

My family and I planned a mini getaway before school to the Monterey Bay area for the first time from Southern California. From the start of our reservation, Michelle gave top-notch customer service! She was so pleasant to work with - I really enjoyed working with her! All communications related to our stay were sent out on time and the check-in and check-out process were very easy to follow. There were no over the top rules which made the whole process easy and enjoyable. We stayed 3 nights at the Gingerbread House in Pacific Grove and we had the best time! It was my husband and I, plus 2 teenagers so it was a treat to see their faces when they saw the house :-) The house was very charming and comfortable! At night we loved putting on the fireplace and relaxed watching movies and the Olympics as we winded down from a busy sight-seeing day. We loved the dining room and kitchen! We were so surprised at how big both rooms were. The bedrooms were also very comfortable and spacious! My husband and I loved drinking our morning coffee out on the balcony off of the master bedroom. Of course my teenagers loved their rooms as they spent a lot of time behind closed doors relaxing :-) The location of the house couldn't have been better! The house is walking distance to the beach and to downtown PG. On our last day we took the short walk to the Red House Cafe for a nice breakfast. The whole house was lovely, but the #1 thing we appreciated so much, was that the house had a driveway! We noticed not all the houses in the neighborhood had driveways and only had street parking. The fact that we had a driveway made parking so much easier! Overall we had a fabulous time and hope to stay at The Gingerbread House again on our next visit to Pacific Grove! less

This is the third time my family has stayed at the gingerbread house. It’s very charming and suits us very well! The rooms are comfy, the kitchen is well-equipped and the location is fantastic. An easy walk gets you to the beach, into town, to a playground, and for us it’s an easy walk to our relatives home. My only suggestion would be to install a grab bar by the bathtub in the upstairs bathroom. Kate Wright less

Our stay at Gingerbread was wonderful! The bedrooms are roomy with comfortable beds and pillows. The kitchen was very well stocked to cook even though we ate out most of the time with so many great restaurants nearby. Lots of spread-out space in the living room and the lounge upstairs was my husband's favorite reading room while I had some business ZOOM calls at the desk area. The master has a step-in shower stall (might be a little small for very large individuals, but was fine for us) with the hallway bathroom with a shower and tub. We were there in December so the temperature in the house was fine with the house furnace. We noticed portable fans available in many of the closets if needed. The off-street parking was appreciated. It was good to have a 2-car driveway pad as with residents parking in the street we needed space to position our mid-size SUV to back out. Although we didn't park in the 2 car garage, we could have easily done so. The location is fabulous! Literally 1 1/2 blocks from Lighthouse and 4 blocks to the coastline. Working with the property agent was easy and Michelle communicated with us in a very timely fashion. The house was clean and everything was ready for us. Having a self-enter lock was great. If we go to visit again and need a house to sleep 4-5 people, we would consider renting this house again. less

We were favorably, surprised at how wonderful this house was when we first open the door. It is an older home that has undergoing extensive, beautiful, and thoughtful renovation, making it perfect for a visit to Pacific Grove/Monterey. Michelle @montereyrentals.com was wonderful and made the whole process simple. The home is a short walk to the beach, and Pacific Grove is much less touristy or hectic than Monterey but right next-door To the aquarium, Cannery Row, etc. The home has a completely equipped kitchen, comfortable livingroom area, dining area, well appointed bathrooms, and comfortable beds. There is even a garage, which is of great benefit in California where parking sometimes is limited. We were a party of four adults and two young children. The children were excited to see the house well-stocked with games and other play items as well as a “Secret hideaway” they discovered upstairs. We highly recommend this rental. less

Very spacious and well equipped. Abundant carpeting is tattered and very well-used. Screens on widows needed as no air conditioning.

My family and I stayed at Gingerbread the last week of May. Both the weather and the house were superb! The house was an easy walk to the ocean walk/bike path, and Lover's Point beach. It was also a short stroll to a coffee shop that my husband in particular enjoyed every morning. The beds were comfortable, the house clean. I would add two amenities: a new can opener (we borrowed the neighbor's! She was so kind!), and a vase for flowers. Otherwise, we were perfectly comfortable. We especially loved what we came to call "the tower room" with its light and comfortable setting. less

My family recently spent four nights in the Gingerbread House and absolutely loved it! The house has tons of character and is perfectly located. You can walk along the beautiful, scenic coast in one direction, or up to the cute shops and restaurants in the other. Plus, the park a block away with a basketball court was a bonus for my teenage boys. In the past, we have stayed in Monterey and Carmel, but this was our first time staying in Pacific Grove. We really liked the down-to-earth feel of the area, and the proximity to the neighboring towns. We highly recommend the Gingerbread house to any family looking for a nice family vacation. less

We recently stayed there for a vacation and a small family reunion. The best part was its location. It’s walking distance to a coffee shop, restaurants/bakeries, liquor store, and lovers point (the beach). The house is a good size. We thought we would spend a lot of time in the upstairs balcony/window room but it was too hot and the house doesn’t have AC. It was unusually warm when we visited. It’s an older home but in good condition. The living room is where we’re congregated the most and had about 10 people in there catching up on old times. Too bad it didn’t have more comfortable chairs but it was still big enough to accommodate all of us. The TVs are very small and be careful of the master suite bed. When you walk to the bathroom it looks like it’s just the quilt but you’ll hit your knee on the bed. Several of us did this when looking at the house the first time. There were small ants in the upstairs bathroom sink. I forgot to tell them about it but I’m sure they will read this review. Location was its biggest asset. No beach view was a bummer but we knew that when we booked it so all-in-all it was an awesome vacation home for four adults (my parents came with us) and our two children (11 & 6) who walked everywhere or got an Uber to the aquarium etc... less

We booked this lovely home in Pacific Grove for for days. We had 4 adults from FL joining us for a Monterey wedding and small family reunion. What a darling home with every comfort you would want and expect. Perfect location between water and downtown! The living room and kitchen/dining room area were larger than anticipated. Most importantly, it was very clean with all amenities. I would highly recommend this rental and the ease of dealing with the management team was amazing, less

Stayed here for 10 days and loved every minute! Situated just a block from Lighthouse Avenue, the Gingerbread House had the perfect location for us to walk to restaurants, shops and Lovers Point.... and further if so desired. I managed a walk most mornings to Cannery Row along the waterfront or Pinot Point Lighthouse-- each within a mile or mile and a half from the house. Be sure to check out the Pacific Grove Farmers' Market on Mondays-- just a few blocks away on Central Ave. The house is well maintained and had all the amenities one would want for a vacation of this length-- plenty of linens, full kitchen with laundry, fully stocked bathrooms including a downstairs powder room. Add fast internet and cable TV with Netflix-- this was the perfect home away from home. (I would note that I packed a hair dryer since none was listed in the description-- but the Gingerbread House had two--one in each of the upstairs bathrooms.) My ONLY complaint is that at night a lot of light filtered into the master bedroom, which had sliding doors off the porch. There were opaque blinds on the other bedrooms that I wish were on the master bedroom too. It was so enjoyable to sit on any of the 3 porches and people watch. We could see the Red House Grill from the house-- you'll want to have breakfast, lunch or weekend brunch there. Yum! The Gingerbread House made a wonderful visit perfect. I'd highly recommend and look forward to our return visit. less

Thank you for an amazing stay at Gingerbread house. It was our first visit to America, and after a hectic time visiting Las Vegas and Los Angeles, a week relaxing in Pacific Grove was wonderful. The Aquarium was a highlight and we managed a day trip to San Francisco and Alcatraz. Swimming and renting kayaks at Lover's Point beach was great because we saw an otter and seal. We went whale watching from Monterey wharf. Our favourite place to eat was the beachhouse at Lover's point. The nearby playground was handy for our little one. It is so easy to walk to all the local neighbourhood facilities including a 3 screen cinema! We traveled to Santa Cruz boardwalk for an evening which was easy and fun. The house was lovely but it took us a while to work the washing machine as we did not have instructions. The garage was really good for the car and meant we could leave any sandy shoes in there. We played chess and checkers in the lounge and we loved the sun tower for morning coffee and reading. The kids liked the cupboard under the suntower. Booking, key pickup and payment online went smoothly thanks to Monterey Property Rentals. A very efficient service. less

We rented the house for my family coming from Spain for five days. When picking up the keys from the main office, it was easy since they left them in an envelope with information about both the house and outdoor activities in Monterey. The house had everything needed and there was enough space for the five of them (there is even a sofa bed ) Two of the bathrooms clogged the first day, we called and In less than a couple of hours they fixed them. The house is located in a nice neighborhood and it only takes a couple of minutes to get to the rec trail. Also, pacific grove has plenty of cute stores and cafes where you can roam around. Regarding the deposit, it is insignificant compared with other places we looked into. The only inconvenient that we saw was that the office closes by four and during the weekend it is also closed. Having said that, we wouldn't be able to have a look at the house until we checked in. However, the pictures posted in the website are the ones you find whe you get there and I have to say that they are amazing. One of the bedrooms gets really hot because it has three windows and since the early morning the sun is already hitting. I fully recommend the place to anyone who is looking for a quite place and liked small charming cities less

Open and airy house in easy walking distance to the restaurants and shops of Pacific Grove. Large rooms, big windows, three bedrooms and large, well-equipped kitchen/dining area. We all much enjoyed staying here and heartily recommend the property.
