1080 sq. ft. | 2 Bedroom | 1 Bath | Sleeps 4 (2Q) Max. Occupancy 4
This cottage—complete with a white picket fence—looks like it came straight out of a storybook. And the location couldn’t be more enchanting: in just a few blocks you can be shopping, dining, or sipping a latte at one of Pacific Grove’s quaint coffee shops—or communing with seals and sea otters on the coastal recreational trail.
There’s a peek of ocean from the front steps, and a huge backyard with a dining table, barbecue, and four Adirondack chairs around a wood-burning firepit for cozy evenings under the stars. The living room has hardwood floors and a barrel ceiling, the dining room seats six, and the kitchen features stainless appliances and a new five-burner gas cooktop. Both bedrooms have Queen sleigh beds, and the bath has a tub/shower combination.
From the annual Butterfly Parade to the apple trees around Caledonia Park, there's a reason Pacific Grove is called "America's last hometown." A more casual—but no less charming—alternative to Carmel, Pacific Grove is a seaside enclave of restored Victorians and beach bungalows. And the walkable downtown has something for everyone: boutiques, galleries, antique and consignment shops, a cinema, a bookstore—and too many coffeehouses to count.

Lovely Stay at Snow White's Cottage
Reviewed by Susan
Hubby and I took the two grandkids for a winter break getaway to Pacific Grove, and stayed at Snow White's Cottage. We've used Monterey Bay rentals before, but this was our first time in this rental. My impression was that it was new in their inventory.
We loved it! It isn't fancy (which the price, on the lower end for Monterey Bay Rentals, reflects, but it is very comfortable. Very nice beds, VERY quiet! Wish I could afford to buy a place like this. It is an older home, with charming details including high arched ceilings. You get a peak a boo view of the ocean from the living room and dining room. You can walk to the ocean (about four or five blocks) or to downtown Pacific Grove (perhaps half a mile or a bit more). Lovely and quiet neighborhood, plenty of off street parking. The kitchen had lots of counter space and was well equipped, with a large dishwasher and a new, sparkling clean gas stove and oven. With kids, most of our cooking was at home. There was a very nice gas grill on the back patio which I wanted to try, but it was cold and rainy much of the time we were there so we never got around to it. Next time! (and there will be a next time, I've already booked a return trip later in the year for the two of us).
A big plus is that there is a HUGE backyard (and a fairly large front yard as well)....kids loved that, even when the weather wasn't great, and when it was nice the adults loved sitting out there. Really pleasant and private. There is an outdoor fireplace, again, something else to try next time! Another plus is lots of storage, including a big walk in closet in one bedroom. All three rooms have TVs, though we only used the one in the living room.
Just a note: the pictures showed an entrance to the bathroom from a bedroom; there is also an entrance from the hall right next to the other bedroom. The bedroom without the direct entrance to the bathroom is actually a bit bigger I think (It definitely has the larger closet) and felt more private to us (further back in the corner of the house), so I was glad we didn't have to walk through a bedroom to get to the bathroom. The set up was great for two adults and two small kids. It might be a little tight for two couples.
Speaking of kids, they loved the picket fence in front and the cottage appearance....my grandson, just turned four, was really convinced that it was in fact Snow White's Cottage. And when we saw dear just outside in the am, he was enchanted!
