1782 sq. ft. | 2 Bedroom | 3 Bath | Sleeps 4 (2K) Max. Occupancy 6
Right across the street from the Pacific Grove Golf Links, this comfortable, ocean view home has a backyard big enough to live in… and on sunny days you probably will. With separate areas to lounge, barbecue and dine (two tables and chairs seat ten plus) it’s the perfect spot for outdoor entertaining. The two king suites with comfy beds and lovely linens are separated by two adjoining baths (one with a walk-in shower and one with a Jacuzzi tub). The living room has oak floors, Mission style furniture, and a brick-lined gas fireplace. The remodeled kitchen has quartz counter tops and upscale appliances including a professional Wolf range (grill, six burners and double oven).
A brand new addition includes a family room with a double sofa bed, big screen TV, game table, and a full bath with shower, adding a private space for extra guests—and a great evening hangout for watching sports, movies and playing games. French doors along the southern exposure allow the natural sunlight and warmth to stream in during the day. The living room, kitchen and front porch are great places to watch golfers and the bay. It’s close to Lover’s Point and the coastal recreational trail, and super convenient to all the shops, restaurants and amenities of Pacific Grove. The property is 5-10 minutes from the Aquarium and Fisherman’s Wharf, and if there are little ones in your party, charming Caledonia Park is just a short walk away.
Large capacity washer/dryer. Lots of closets and storage throughout. Sleeps 6 (if you count the pull-out couch).

Love love the house

I cannot say enough good things about this house. We absolutely loved it and did not want to leave. The view from the kitchen and living room is amazing. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the neighborhood is very quiet. We had a momma and her twin baby deers in the neighborhood everyday, and one day she was in our front yard. They were amazing. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
Wonderful Views / Great Location
Reviewed by Daniel Farris
Very nice property that is conveniently located near everything in the Monterey Peninsula. Great distant views of the ocean and a quick walk down to Lover's Point. Lots of deer in the morning grazing on the golf course across the street. Owners definitely need to update photos in their profile of their new beautiful kitchen that was recently remodeled and upgraded. Some critiques: when we have stayed at other VRBO locations, these owners have a binder prepared with information for the property and recommendations on things to do and places to eat in the surrounding area. We have always found this to be very helpful. The only binder we found at this property was how to run the appliances. Guests probably do not want to leave their car parked in driveway or on street due to errant golf balls from the course across the street. While there is a net screen near the driveway to shield most of them, we did find several balls scattered throughout the front yard.

This is my ninth year renting from Monterey Bay Property Management. They handle the best properties on the Peninsula and are always my first choice when choosing a Vacation Rental Home. The Agents are the most professional and efficient and warm friendships have been formed. All of the personnel connected with MBPM are talented, efficient and professional. The Jewell Box property is always my favorite and many lasting and precious memories have been created in this lovely home. The home is very comfortable and always immaculate. The views cannot be beat, from the green golf course to the blue Pacific Ocean, not to mention the many deer who come to visit. It's a wonderful neighborhood, filled with lovely people.

My buddy and myself decided it was a good time to get away from work and ride the Harleys down HWY 1. We brought our wives with us as well. In looking at hotel prices in Monterey we quickly decided that this was going to be well worth the money as it was the same price as staying in a lower end hotel in Monterey. We were not let down. 1st thing we loved was that there was a garage. We puled right in and didn't have to worry about our motorcycles. The next morning we woke up to a beautiful view of the golf course and ocean. Second day there was a deer in the front yard. This was centrally located to what we were doing on the trip. A 5 minute walk takes you to lovers point. A beautiful beach with good food all around. The house was clean and cozy and what I loved about it is that it is u shaped. Perhaps they did an add on but two bedrooms on one side with a jetted tub and a more modern shower and living space on the other side. I wake up super early and the rest of my group usually sleeps in. I went to the other wing of the house to shower and enjoy my breakfast and watch tv without a worry if I was being too loud. Oven and bbq worked great. This will be an annual trip for us and will stay here again. Monterey Bay Property Management also made things super easy. We got in late and still had access to the keys. House was only 5 minutes away. Over all I give 5 star to both the rental and Property Management company. Thank you!!!
Jewell Box Rental

We have attending the Laguna Seca historic car races for over six years. This year was our first time renting a house, as well as staying in Monterey instead of Carmel. The Jewell Box was a great fit for our family of 5. Very clean (it's the first thing I look for in a rental or a hotel room) it's cozy, and we loved the central location of the house. We walked to Pacific Grove for coffee each morning. Everything was provided in the house that we needed. The plumping in the master shower took some getting used to as the shower handles are backwards, but that is the only negative.
We will be staying there again as well as sharing about the Jewell Box to our friends.
Exceptional Choice for Rental of Home

We stayed at Jewel Box for 3 nights, and it was the best choice we could have made. The home had all the amenities we needed; the rooms were beautiful, comfortable beds, bathrooms lovely. We were able to walk to restaurants at Lover's Point, and also on Lighthouse Ave. The Monterey Bay Aquarium was close by, and also the golf course. The view from the kitchen/family room was spectacular. We even saw a cruise ship pass by in the distance. We were lucky with weather, it was sunny and in the 70's. Perfect for Pacific Grove and the area. We took the 17 mile drive and had a stop at Pebble Beach Golf Course, which is renowned for its history and beauty. I highly recommend this home for rent and we definitely hope to do it again in the future. Thank you for making it a very pleasant experience.
What a find! Ocean view and comfort far exceeded expectations.

The bay view was much better than we had expected as we sipped our morning coffee on the front porch and watched the golfers and deer pass by at Pacific Grove Golf Course. This renovated home has many pluses besides location, like a wonderfully private courtyard in back for outdoor cooking or picnicking. There is a new addition with a third bath room off a "media" room that serves as a third bedroom with a pullout sofa. Two king beds and two full baths make this a good house for two couples. And there's a single car garage! What surprised us most was that we didn't have to provide so many things that other rentals require. Much of what we needed was already there, except for food. There is even an array of spices ... just so many thoughtful items so you don't have to buy every single thing. And the service is excellent. The propane tank ran out but the management company replaced it almost immediately. See what is there before you go to the grocery. The washer and dryer are first rate, as is the jetted tub. This is not a "luxury" property, but a place you can feel right at home. There were some quirks with the faucets operating in the opposite direction of what you expect. But it's a spacious, spanking clean home, and you are within walking distance of Lover's Point. We will stay here again. Loved the Meyer lemon tree in the back yard!

This is a great little house in the middle of everything! It overlooks the pacific grove public golf course with the ocean in the distance. It's a short walk to downtown. There's a little park for the kiddos and a jogging/ walking/ bike trail which overlooks the bay not five minutes away.
The house is a two bedroom / three full bathrooms. The game room at the new end of the house has a couch which pulls out to a bed. It could be used as a three bedroom as it has a door that can close and it's own closet. We loved the little courtyard in the back. It's great for a barbeque. There's also several fruit trees. A lemon, pear and apple tree. We picked some lemon to use in a meal.
I have some criticisms. The older part of the house: the kitchen, living rooms and two bedrooms have an odd smell to it. Kind of like when you walk into a nursing home or hospital. Our king bed looked beautiful but had itchy polyester duvet and sheets. (I'm allergic to polyester) I saw that they had extra sheets in the closet flannel and cotton but if you read the agreement, you are only to use one set of sheets per room or pay extra to the housekeeping fees. One of the throw blankets in the game room had a spider hiding in its folds. And in the kitchen there was no rice cooker. You would have to cook rice the old fashioned way in a pot.
Other than that my family really enjoyed the spaciousness if the place and the views of the golf course/ ocean. Deer passed by every morning. Many times it was a mother and a calf. Reminded me of Bambi! Great little nook in the kitchen to drink coffee in the morning. Oh by the way, my Inlaws brought their own kcup coffee maker. There's an old coffee pot maker provided in the kitchen. Though everyone in my extended family has a k-cup. (Haha and also a rice cooker.) Other than that I would stay here again for the value. Just change the sheets and polyester duvet. Open the doors and windows to try and minimize the old house/ carpet smell. And bring your own need to have items. Rice cooker and kcup coffee maker.

This was our first experience with a vacation rental by owner and it exceeded our expectations. The neighborhood was quiet and the view of the golf course and bay was exactly what we were looking for. The layout of the home gave all of us privacy. Perfect for 3 to 4 people, a family, or 2 couples. The patio in the back was very private and well landscaped...you never would know there were houses next door. It was well equipped and immaculate. We would stay there again.

We we so happy to have found the Jewell on Jewell street. View of golf course and ocean. The cottage/house was well equipped. There was nothing missing. Would love to have stayed longer but work got in the way. Backyard was lovely plenty of seating area for a family. Kitchen equipped with plenty of dishes and high end cooking utensils. Only thing I found wrong was the $1000 security deposit and being advised that it could two weeks to get it back. We would love to return to the property again but the deposit amount would be a deterrent. Hopefully return visitors would get some flexibility.
We’re happy you enjoyed the “Jewell Box” – we love it too - it’s one of our more popular homes. Good news on the security deposit issue: we’ve recently added the option of a $49 “Accidental Damage Safeguard,” which guests can choose in lieu of a security deposit. We've also shortened the return time of security deposits (they are now refunded 7 days after departure).

This home is certainly a little gem. Lots of charm/retro feel with modern updates and conveniences. It was thoughtfully furnished with an eye for design. The beds gave us all a good nights sleep. We especially enjoyed the morning sun through the master bedroom's French doors. The kitchen was well equipped. The location was perfect. We could walk (2 blocks) to the ocean trails or go 4 blocks into town. The neighborhood was very safe and provided another nice place to adventure out. Must say the golfers provided a lot of entertainment. The view from the house is just as it is pictured. The ladies at Monterey Rentals made our stay so easy. Looking forward to our next stay.Ps. Not to worry about not having central heat...the old fashioned gas heater worked wonderfully.

My wife and 2 y.o. daughter, olong with our friend who also have a toddler, isited Pacific Grove for a long weekend. The location of this property was idea. Downtown PG and Monterey are within walking distance, there a park with a play structure a block away, and it is situated on a quiet street across from a golf course.
The house was well laid out, comfortable and exceptionally clean. We were all very impressed by the layout, decor, and quality of the finishes. Everything we needed was there and with two little kids, we made full use of the place. Great backyard as well. The onlkneeling hotly annoying thing was the Internet access -- very slow and at times, difficult to connect to wifi. We all enjoyed our time in PG and especially at the Jewell Box. We will definitely be back!!!
Thank you for coming, Tom! We are so glad you had a great time! Thanks, also, for letting us know that you had some internet issues. We are sending our internet specialist to the property to see what can be done about the slow service and connectivity.
We look forward to your next visit!
