We could not have been happier staying at this lovely beach cottage!!Everything was just as it was advertised. So glad we decided to go to Pacific Grove for our 50th wedding anniversary. The location was perfect, it made getting around this quant little town so easy! it was a joy cooking in this kitchen, as every detail was great. Even a herb carousel! My husband didn't want to leave, he so loved this little cozy home!Hope to return soon and once again enjoy the beauty this entire spot has to offer!!
A quaint and lovely little cottage

The Retreat is a very tastefully furnished small cottage a short walk from the Lover's Point area. It has all the amenities and an unexpectedly large and delightful enclosed patio. The kitchen appliances are a bit dated but certainly very functional. The bathroom is off the kitchen which we found a bit odd but OK. Likewise the heating system consists of two small wall units and a portable heater all of which work well. The faux fire place also provides lots of heat in the living space. The old fashioned tub/shower will be a bit of a chore for older folk or those with hip or knee problems as it has very high sides requiring one to step up over the edge one leg at a time.

I don't like to give a review of the house where I recently (and for the fifth time) stayed in Pacific Grove because if I told you how pleasant this particular house was and has always been, how perfectly it is situated between the ocean and the town, and how it is such a delight to stay there, it might well cause a stampede of requests for rentals, and then when I wanted to rent it again, I might be closed out the very competition I had caused. So let's just say it was OK, but nothing to write home about.....
Another delightful stay - my tenth!

Another delightful stay, marked by excellent weather and lunches in the garden. I appreciated the upgrades installed since my last visit, including ample television offerings, and a new microwave and toaster. Enjoyed new and tested taste experiences - Zum Sushi, as well as my old favorite, Il Veccio. A highlight was my participation in the outstanding fitness classes offered by the Sally Griffin Seniors Center around the corner. As usual, the property management staff were most accommodating. Thank you! See you next year.

I have now stayed at this property four times in the last few years. It is simply wonderful. Ideally located, it close both to the ocean and to town, and its amenities and charm are obvious at first sight. It is perfect for one person or a couple, has everything one would need and, aside from a noisy washing machine, it is joy to spend time in this home, which is also beautifully maintained. I expect to return here in the years to come, and I would not want to live anywhere else in Pacific Grove.
Perfect Location - Great House

This house had everything we needed for our week stay in Pacific Grove. Lover's Point was a block away and the Aquarium was a beautiful mile walk along the coast trail. The house was also well appointed with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. And, the backyard was a beautiful spot for sitting or dining al fresco. I would return to this spot in a heartbeat.

We had a great stay at 125 16th street. Perfect location, 2 min walk to Lover's Point and the bike/walking trail. Asilomar is about a 5 min car ride to the south. We stayed very busy during our stay and had some long days. It was always nice to come "home" to our cottage. Although it's an older home, it's extremely well kept with all the modern amenities you'd expect and more. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Can't wait to go back.

Our previous visit using this property management was near the home we stayed in this visit, is just minutes from Lover's Point, we love the fact that we can walk to the beach! This home is centrally located to many activities, Cannery area, downtown Monterey and my husband and I love the idea we are minutes from the town of Pacific Grove, literally walking distance. There is a farmers market on Monday so, I walk there and browse for fresh veggies, fruits and there is a great little plant vendor there as well, much fun! The house was very comfortable, we liked the idea of having our own driveway and little back patio. We will be comeing back soon - it's all the comforts of home, away from home! Thank you Monterey Rentals for being so accomadating.
Perfect Getaway for Two

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the 16th Street Retreat and definately plan to return. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and a perfect getaway for two. We were able to bicycle and walk everywhere! Lovers Point for sunsets and downtown PG for dinner and breakfast. Parked our vehicle in the driveway and left it. We were visited by "Bandit" the orange tabby who appears to be the welcome committee for this little house. We are already talking about when we can go back and we hope to sooner rather than later!
Very comfortable little cottage in charming beachside town

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this small cottage, located less than a block from Oceanview Blvd and the beach in Pacific Grove, CA. The location in town was great and since parking there can be a problem at times, having a small driveway right next to the house was a definite plus. It is one of the historic homes, with the date and original owner listed on a plaque on the front of the house. Has a nice little enclosed courtyard out back with outdoor furniture and lovely landscaping. The inside is not large, but adequate for two people and is well cared for and very clean. The only negative would be the water pressure in the shower, which is way too low for some reason, but could and should be fixed somehow. This is a great location from which to explore all of the Monterey peninsula and surrounding areas. A good value in an otherwise expensive area.

We loved our stay in this quaint little home a block from Lover's Point beach in Pacific Grove. April/May is the best time to go with the gorgeous purple "magic carpet" flowers and new seal pups on the beaches! The bed is super comfortable! Our only complaint is a $129 cleaning fee -- way too high, especially when you are asked to do a load of the sheets/towels and wash the dishes!
We make every effort to keep our housekeeping rates as reasonable as possible while using only licensed, bonded personnel (and this fee includes replenishing dishwasher and laundry detergent, dish washing liquid, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, trash bags, bar soap and liquid hand soap). Because our housekeepers often have only four hours to clean an entire house before the next check in, we ask our guests to start the dishwasher and a load of towels before they leave—but this is just a courtesy, not a requirement.

Cute cottage and well equipped, but needs some attention. The dehumidifier needs to be reset. It was running at all hours. It is very necessary because of the high humidity. The headboard on the bed should be discarded-it had mildew on it and the lower rungs were covered with some crud that just couldn't be removed with washing. Nice location and for the most part clean. Felt lack of security a t times, especially when someone parked a motorbike in our driveway with a skull on the front. We didn't know what to think. Cute backyards-would like to see some type of window covering on the kitchen windows. Very helpful staff at Monterey Rental. Location was wonderful. Comfortable bed.

Loved the cottage and the area it was in. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Visit to aquarium highly recommended. Only downside was the weather - cold and wet - but that didn't stop us enjoying ourselves. Would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying at Pacific Cove.

This cozy cottage was perfect for us. All amenities were provided. The place was homey and neat. It's located less than a block from Lover's Point, and 3 blocks from downtown Pacific Grove, so we parked our car and walked just about everywhere. There's even a neighborhood cat named Bandit who added a cuddly touch!Only down side is that it's not well insulated, so we ran the heater more than we felt we should have. But there are warm comforters and blankets, so it wasn't bad.

Loved staying here. Neighborhood of cute Victorian homes and cottages. The cottage feels larger inside than it appears from outside. Lots of windows for light, but they don't seem to open. We just opened the 3 doors to let the fresh ocean air in. The location is great. It is only a short block to the wonderful recreational trail for biking or walking along the coast. It's only about a mile to the aquarium or Cannery Row; an easy bike ride or walk and no parking hassles. A large gated patio allows privacy and a place to store the bikes you bring along!A friendly orange neighborhood cat came to the porch to visit, and a squirrel also wanted to come in, but no pets allowed. :-)Looking forward to returning.

My girlfriend and I have stayed at this house twice, and we have loved it. It is well-appointed, and its location, close to town and to the ocean, is ideal. It is also very quiet, and as cat lovers, we were delighted that one of the neighborhood cats adopted us! Whenever we had a small problem, the people at your rental agency were very helpful to us. In short, anyone who has the good fortune to stay in this house is very likely to feel about it the way we did.
